Adam Sandler Wins the Internet with a Tweet for Chris Rock

Adam Sandler isn’t known for getting mixed in with drama or outside of his own group of friends. Sandler has built a legacy and with it he’s kept his circle very tight. That’s out of the ordinary for celebrities who enjoy all of the attention they can get.

After the debacle between Will Smith and Chris Rock, people have taken one side or the other with varying defense for each of the actors. The truth is that yes, it was illegal and wrong for Will Smith to smack Chris Rock, but was it also hilarious and entertainment gold? Yes.

Adam Sandler has been friends with Chris Rock since the 90s when they were on Saturday Night Live together and even before. They still work together on a professional level and have starred in many movies together over the years.

Sandler tweeted, “Can’t wait for this. Love you buddy!” The tweet had a picture attached supporting and advertising Chris Rock’s upcoming tour:

Chris Rock handled the situation very well and laughed it off. What could have been a disastrous situation showed true professionalism.

Will Smith issued an apology, “Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.”

Rather than ignoring the issue and moving on with life, Will Smith had the decency to explain the situation and why he chose to react the way that he did.

Will Smith continued, “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”

Will Smith ended the statement with, “I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams family and my King Richard family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us. I am a work in progress.”

When you’re down, your friends should be there to pick you up and Adam Sandler proved that he’s there for the people closest to him.
