AOC Shouted Down By NYC Protesters Chanting ‘Close The Border!’

During a Friday press conference, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was shouted down by protesters demanding that the southern border be closed and calling for her to “respect the Constitution.”

As Ocasio-Cortez and other Democrats tried to speak out in favor of illegal aliens flooding New York City, they were drowned out by a group of demonstrators outraged over the influx of illegals in the city. The Democrat congresswoman was joined at a press conference outside the migrant arrival center at the Roosevelt Hotel by Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-NY), and several other elected officials from states including Illinois, California and Texas.

During the press conference, the Democrats were discussing a fact-finding mission they were undertaking to “see for themselves what the migration dynamic is in our nation,” Espaillat explained.

Despite their best efforts, the speakers were consistently drowned out by angry New Yorkers demanding that the pro-open-borders leftists reverse course and put an end to the influx of illegals in New York City — which has seen more than 110,000 illegal aliens enter the city since 2022.

“Close the border! Close the border! Respect the Constitution, AOC! I am your constituent!” one man was heard shouting into a megaphone, according to Fox News.

Some of the protesters were seen carrying signs reading: “Americans first: Vetted & legal migrants only.”

Meanwhile, Ocasio-Cortez ignored the protesters — many of whom were her constituents — and continued to try to speak to the media, struggling to be heard.

“What we seek to do is to make sure that all the resources are necessary and that we are joining with the city and state,” she said.

“I think that there are three points of consensus here that are very important in getting a solution to that issue,” the Democrat congresswoman continued. “The first is that there is consensus here across geographies and states on increased federal resources to cities and municipalities dealing with this issue.”

“The second is to allow for work authorizations so that folks in here can get to work and start supporting themselves as soon as possible,” Ocasio-Cortez exclaimed. “They are prevented from getting jobs. They are prevented from employment and that is part of the strain on our public systems. The faster that folks can access the work that they’re asking for, legally, the better we can solve.”

This incident comes after a recent poll that showed nearly half of New York state residents — a shocking 41% — are in favor of a border wall spanning the entire length of the U.S.-Mexico border. The poll also showed that roughly 38% of New Yorkers believe the illegal aliens crossing the southern border are the source of much of the illegal drugs coming into the country, while 31% said that many of these illegals are “dangerous potentially criminal people.”
