Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano has made a direct appeal to American Catholics, urging them to support President Donald Trump in the upcoming election. In his letter, Vigano described Kamala Harris as an “infernal monster who obeys Satan” and insisted that voting for Trump is the only moral option to protect the nation’s future.
Known for his outspoken views, Vigano served as the Vatican’s ambassador to the U.S. from 2011 to 2016. He has previously criticized the Vatican’s handling of internal scandals and is now calling the 2024 election a critical moment for American Catholics. He emphasized that abstaining from voting is unacceptable, stating that remaining neutral is equivalent to supporting the enemy.
Polling from Pew Research indicates that Trump has the support of 52% of American Catholics, compared to 47% for Harris. Vigano stressed that the faithful must unite behind Trump to safeguard their faith and ensure a future free from what he called the “globalist coup” promoted by Harris and her allies.
Vigano argued that Harris’s policies are fundamentally opposed to Catholic values, warning that her administration would lead to “moral and social destruction.” He called on Catholics to stand against the agenda of the global elite, which he claims threatens to dismantle America’s Christian heritage.
Cardinal Raymond Burke also urged Catholics to pray and fast as they approach the election. He encouraged them to evaluate each candidate’s platform carefully to find a candidate who aligns with Catholic principles, even if they don’t fully agree with all of their positions.
Father Chad Ripperger has similarly called for spiritual preparation, composing a prayer aimed at protecting the integrity of the election and helping Catholics discern the right choice for America’s future.
