Biden Places Blame On Obama For Russia’s Ukraine Invasion, New Book Reveals

In Bob Woodward’s new book War, President Joe Biden is revealed to have criticized former President Barack Obama for mishandling the 2014 Russian annexation of Crimea, which he believes led to Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Biden reportedly confided to a friend that the administration “f***ed up,” accusing Obama of not taking Vladimir Putin’s threat seriously.

Biden’s frustration centers around Obama’s decision not to send military aid to Ukraine in 2014, a move Biden sees as enabling Putin’s aggressive actions. “We gave Putin a license to continue!” Biden reportedly said, expressing regret over the Obama administration’s inaction.

The book also highlights that U.S. intelligence learned of Putin’s invasion plans in October 2021 through a high-level source within the Kremlin. Biden’s administration had access to classified information, allowing them to anticipate Russia’s military strategies.

In December 2021, Biden confronted Putin during a tense video call, which reportedly became so heated that Putin issued nuclear threats. Intelligence reports later indicated that Putin, feeling increasingly desperate due to setbacks in Ukraine, might resort to using tactical nuclear weapons, with U.S. officials estimating the likelihood at 50%.
