With historic rulings handed down on abortion and gun control, the Supreme Court has become a target of the Democrats’ ire, with much of the hate online being directed specifically toward Justice Clarence Thomas.
The left’s smearing of Thomas began after he authored the opinion striking down New York State’s restrictions on carrying a concealed firearm. The ruling stated that a state can regulate the practice through the permit process, but it cannot create a de facto denial of the right to self-defense by a discretionary and extreme regulatory scheme.
CNN attacked Thomas directly, calling it his decision and citing his history of dissent on firearms cases. The network consistently attempts to personalize the decision to him directly, rather than referring to opinion as a commentary of nine justices with a 6-3 vote.
Soon after the gun control case, Justice Alito authored an opinion overturning Roe v. Wade.
White progressives resorted to using the N-word and other racial slurs to express their anger on social media. Many of the tweets and posts are still up. They are showing yet again, that there is a two-tiered censorship system when conservatives are involved. The personalization of the decisions is particularly troubling given the recent doxing of the justice’s home addresses. Anyone that wants to express their displeasure can find out where Thomas lives.
This is not an insignificant problem. A man was recently stopped by authorities in Justice Kavanaugh’s neighborhood who said he was there to kill the Kavanaugh. The 26-year-old California man, Nikolas Roske, was indicted by a federal grand jury.
The left is not above using racism, nullification and calls for violence when people of color refuse to follow the preferred narrative. Let us hope that cooler heads prevail and Thomas does not suffer any ill effects from leftist terrorists.
