Dan Crenshaw’s Hot Mic Threat Against Tucker Carlson Exposes GOP Divide

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) is under scrutiny after being caught on a hot mic making an explicit threat against Tucker Carlson. During an interview with Great Britain News, Crenshaw was asked whether he had ever met the conservative commentator. Without hesitation, he responded, “If I ever meet him, I’d f***ing kill him,” then proceeded to call Carlson “the worst person ever.”

The comment spread quickly on social media, triggering backlash from conservatives. Elon Musk reacted on X, questioning why Crenshaw appeared “homicidal” toward Carlson. Carlson, refusing to let the statement slide, invited Crenshaw to a sit-down interview, writing, “Why don’t you come sit for an interview and we’ll see how you do? I’ll send you my address.”

For years, Carlson and Crenshaw have represented two opposing factions within the Republican Party. Crenshaw, known for supporting U.S. aid to Ukraine, admitted early on that his support was not about securing Ukraine’s victory but about depleting Russia’s military. This stance has drawn criticism from Carlson and America-First conservatives who argue that the U.S. should not be sacrificing resources for foreign conflicts with no clear benefit to Americans.

The personal animosity between the two has also been apparent. Crenshaw has dismissed Carlson as a “click-chaser” and a “cowardly, know-nothing elitist.” Carlson has responded in kind, calling Crenshaw “Eye Patch McCain” for his hawkish foreign policy views, a reference to the late Sen. John McCain.

Crenshaw dismissed the controversy when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) confronted him about the threat on X. Great Britain News reporter Steven Edgington, who recorded the moment, responded, “We literally have it on video.” The video was removed from X but has continued to circulate widely.
