During a live interview on CNN’s “Newsroom,” Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) joined the long list of radical pro-abortion leftists who have embarrassed themselves in making completely untrue statements about the Supreme Court regarding their potential decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Speaking with the show’s host, Victor Blackwell, Jayapal falsely claimed that the Supreme Court does “not have the right” to overturn Roe v. Wade.
“This is a stunning, stunning rebuke of precedent and of the fundamental freedom that women have to make choices about our own bodies and our own futures and our own economic security. And the thing is, Victor, that these justices are acting like this is somehow something that they have the right to change. They do not have the right to change this, which has been settled law for two generations now of people who have grown up, who have gone through their twenties in the firm belief that they can make these decisions about their own bodies,” the congresswoman asserted.
Of course, Jayapal is just blatantly wrong in her assertion. A past Supreme Court decision cannot just be considered “settled law” and never be allowed to be overturned. Otherwise, segregation and many other blatantly immoral decisions would still exist. In fact, the court has overturned many of its own decisions in the past. As of 2020, the Supreme Court has overruled its own precedents in an estimated 232 cases since 1810. Just because women have been allowed to murder their unborn children for a few decades, doesn’t mean the country has to continue the barbaric practice indefinitely in order to uphold a court precedent.
On an episode of “The Rubin Report,” BlazeTV host Dave Rubin called Jayapal out for her insane reaction to the leaked Supreme Court opinion draft.
“So just to be clear, she’s just wrong,” he said. “That’s just a lie. Of course the Supreme Court is allowed to look at prior decisions and make current decisions, right, that’s exactly what they do.”
Rubin went on to explain that the leaked Supreme Court draft argues that there is no basis in the Constitution to make abortion a federal right, and that the voting public should decide on the abortion issue via state legislatures.
“But that’s what’s happening on CNN. A a progressive lefty gets on there and just lies,” Rubin said. “They completely lie to you about what the Supreme Court actually does and… how the whole freaking thing works.”
