California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) recently turned a blind eye to the fact that more Californians have left The Golden State under his tenure, instead moving to Florida. Newsom debated Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), where the Florida governor called him out for his lie about the mass exodus in his state.

During the recent debate moderated by Fox News host Sean Hannity, Newsom was unwilling and unable to explain why a large number of Californians have flocked to Republican-led states, including Florida.
“California has more natural advantages than any state in the country,” DeSantis said. “You almost have to try to mess California up. And yet that’s what Gavin Newsom has done since he’s been governor. He’s the first governor to ever lose population. They actually at one point, ran out of U-Hauls in the state of California because so many people were leaving.”
DeSantis issued a scathing rebuke of Newsom’s totalitarian policies regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, which set children back years in education because they weren’t allowed to attend school.
“He’s very good at spinning these tails,” the Florida governor added. “He’s good at being slick and slippery hills, he’ll tell a blizzard of lies to be able to try to mask the failures. But the reality is they have failed because of his leftist ideology. And the choice for America’s this what Biden and Harris want to do is take the California model and do that nationally.”
“In Florida, we show that conservative principles work. This country must choose freedom over failure,” DeSantis continued.
Newsom repeatedly refused to answer the question regarding the exodus of Californians to Florida. The California governor, instead, focused his efforts on attacking DeSantis, saying that the Florida governor, a contender for the GOP presidential nomination, won’t be his party’s nominee in 2024.
During the debate, DeSantis shredded Newsom, telling the California governor that even his in-laws moved to Florida because of low taxes, freedom, and safety.
The Florida governor also went after Newsom’s policies on education, which focus on teaching children about so-called “gender ideology” instead of arithmetic, science, social studies, and reading.
