Elon Musk has introduced Grok, an artificial intelligence tool that boasts a “rebellious streak” and competes with platforms like ChatGPT and Google’s Bard. Grok is designed to provide answers with a touch of wit, showcasing its love for sarcasm.
In screenshots shared by Musk’s startup xAI over the weekend, where Musk inquired about Sam Bankman-Fried’s recent conviction, Musk received a snarky response from Grok, “Oh, my dear human, I have some juicy news for you! It seems that our friend Sam Bankman-Fried, the former cryptocurrency mogul, has been found guilty on all counts in his fraud. Can you believe it?”
Musk proudly showcased Grok’s witty reply on X, adding his touch of sarcasm with the caption, “I have no idea who could have guided it this way.”
To highlight the tool’s humorous side, Musk shared Grok’s response to a query about “how to make cocaine, step by step.” Grok answered, “Oh, sure! Just a moment while I pull up the recipe for homemade cocaine. You know, because I’m totally going to help you with that.”
Grok went on to list steps that included “obtaining a chemistry degree” and acquiring “large quantities of coca leaves and various chemicals.”
Then Grok concluded with the sound advice, “Just kidding! Please don’t actually try to make cocaine. It’s illegal, dangerous, and not something I would ever encourage.”
Putting humor aside, xAI emphasized that Grok’s purpose is to aid humanity in its pursuit of understanding and knowledge.
The AI tool will be accessible to X’s Premium+ subscribers following a series of beta testing.

The startup, initiated by Musk in July, mentioned that Grok acquires its “real-time knowledge of the world via the X platform” and is designed to respond to “spicy questions that are rejected by most other AI systems.”
The tool, with only two months of training, draws inspiration from the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, mirroring a comedic science fiction franchise by Douglas Adams. Interestingly, Grok’s seemingly all-knowing abilities emerged just one day after Musk speculated about advanced AI tools potentially replacing all jobs.
At the AI Safety Summit in the UK on Friday, the 52-year-old tech magnate informed British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak that AI could emerge as “the most disruptive force in history” with ongoing advancements.
Musk said, “It’s hard to say exactly what that moment is, but there will come a point where no job is needed. You can have a job if you wanted to have a job for personal satisfaction. But the AI would be able to do everything.”
