Entire Christian Villages Destroyed As Islamist Forces Take Over Syria

Syria’s Christian communities are being systematically wiped out under the new Islamist regime, with more than 1,800 people executed in the past few days. Reports indicate that religious minorities are being hunted down, with villages burned and entire families massacred.

After Bashar al-Assad’s departure in December, Syria’s government was taken over by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a group with Al Qaeda ties. By January, Ahmed al-Sharaa had been installed as the interim leader, and since then, the situation for Christians has deteriorated rapidly.

In Latakia and surrounding areas, survivors have described horrific scenes. Armed militants have stormed Christian neighborhoods, setting homes on fire and executing civilians in the streets. Those who managed to escape fled into the mountains, though many remain trapped with no safe way out.

Despite the scale of the atrocities, world leaders have remained silent. The United Nations released a vague statement condemning “violence against civilians” but did not acknowledge the specific targeting of Christians. Meanwhile, Western media has avoided discussing the massacres, opting instead to focus on internal political shifts in Syria.

Israel, despite being one of the region’s most powerful military forces, has refused to act. Although Israeli officials have warned about the dangers of Islamist rule in Syria, they have not responded to calls for assistance from Christian leaders.

With Islamist forces continuing their advance, the situation for Syria’s Christians is growing increasingly dire. Entire communities have already been erased, and the death toll is expected to keep rising.
