Detroit Sector Chief Patrol Agent John Morris confirmed the arrest of Melquiades Salgado-Garza, describing him as a leader of hitmen for the Gulf Cartel.
Authorities revealed that Salgado-Garza’s criminal history includes serious offenses such as burglary and forgery, as well as multiple immigration violations. His arrest is one of several recent operations targeting individuals with ties to violent organizations.
Over the weekend, Border Patrol agents stationed in Sault Ste. Marie arrested a suspected member of Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan prison gang known for its violent crimes. The individual was reportedly attempting to reclaim a seized vehicle when he was taken into custody.
In another case, a Mexican national with ten prior arrests for illegal entry into the U.S. was apprehended at the Marysville Station. Authorities confirmed that the individual will be deported following processing.
