House GOP Moves To Impeach Judges Who Halted Trump’s Policies

House Republicans are making moves to impeach federal judges they say are unfairly blocking President Donald Trump’s ability to carry out executive orders. The push comes amid ongoing legal battles between the administration and the judiciary.

Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) is leading the charge against Judge Paul Engelmayer of New York, who issued a ruling that prevented Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from accessing Treasury records. Crane and other Republicans argue that the ruling unjustly limits executive power.

Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) is drafting articles of impeachment against Judge John McConnell Jr., who ruled against Trump’s decision to freeze certain federal spending. Clyde has described McConnell’s ruling as an example of judicial activism aimed at stalling conservative policies.

Trump has weighed in on the situation, stating that Congress should consider reviewing the actions of judges who have been blocking his policies. Vice President J.D. Vance has also suggested that some judges are attempting to override executive authority.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has joined the effort, calling for accountability for judges who she says are using their positions to obstruct Trump’s policies. She has vowed to push for impeachment efforts in Congress.

While the impeachment push is gaining traction among conservatives, convicting and removing a judge requires a two-thirds vote in the Senate, making it an unlikely outcome. The last time a federal judge was removed from office was in 2010.
