Hunter Biden will be sentenced for his federal gun charges on November 13, shortly after the election. The son of President Joe Biden could face up to 25 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.
A federal judge will decide Biden’s fate after he was found guilty in June of lying about his drug use on a gun purchase application in 2018. The charges include making a false statement, possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of addictive substances, and other related offenses.
President Joe Biden has made it clear that he will not pardon his son regarding these charges. Delaware US Attorney David Weiss emphasized, “This case was not just about addiction, a disease that haunts families across the United States, including Hunter Biden’s family. This case was about the illegal choices the defendant made while in the throes of addiction.”
Hunter Biden, whose law license was suspended following his conviction, remains hopeful despite the outcome. “I am more grateful today for the love and support I experienced this last week from Melissa, my family, my friends, and my community than I am disappointed by the outcome. Recovery is possible by the grace of God, and I am blessed to experience that gift one day at a time,” he stated.
As a first-time offender, his prison time may be less than the maximum sentence.
