Manchin pounded liberal Democrats and the extreme left in a recent op-ed. AOC and the squad are in frenzy mode, fully buffed out on the attack now that Joe Manchin has drawn a line in the sand against Democrat President Joe Biden and Democrat Representative Nancy Pelosi (CA).
House Speaker Pelosi pledged to pass a national Right to Abortion law in response to the recent SCOTUS upheld Texas law. Roe v. Wade is in danger, but Pelosi and the Democrats will need Manchin to get the 60 votes required to avoid changing the filibuster rules and ram this heinous legislation down American’s throats. Manchin is also opposed to the $3.5 trillion budget and the divisive approach the Democrats have taken in this session of Congress.
Democrat Senator Joe Manchin (WV) is one of the most reliably true moderates in Congress. Dark red West Virginia voted him in as their blue-collar answer to Marco Rubio. He has supported conservative policies and issues such as the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Repeal Act of 2010, opposition to Planned Parenthood, President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, and confirmation of Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
While many so-called conservatives and RINOs collapsed on significant issues when they got to Washington, Manchin seems to hold the line despite the demands for conformity by the caucus.
We all must give him credit. Schumer and Pelosi and the gang of media-powered liberals have applied a gigantic full-court press reminiscent of WVU basketball teams. But Manchin has not wilted yet. In an era of cowardly men, like Republican Senator Willard “Mitt” Romney (UT), also known as “Pierre Delecto,” the Mountain man looks like he may hold steady. Even if we do not place any hope in a Democrat, we must take allies where we can find them.
In the Wall Street Journal, Manchin wrote that he wouldn’t oblige the vast, unreliable, opportunity squashing budget. At $3.5 trillion, this bill proposed by the liberals must not pass. All things being equal, Manchin wants to tone down the rhetoric and give everyone some time to think about the plan needed to fund the government. This level headed response has no place in modern crisis drive manic politics.
The US is currently dealing with a resurgence of COVID-19 and coming to terms with Biden’s failure in Afghanistan. This phenomenal exhibition of incompetence does not instill trust in the President or his ability to deal with Congress. As other emergencies occur, Congress does not have an endless stock of cash. At some stage, burning through trillions will create hyperinflation and tank the economy.
The American economy may struggle under the weight of this irresponsible budget. The average American may not directly see the $28.7 trillion and developing debt load, but prices will rise as taxes increase, pinching the middle-class. We’ve spent more than $5 trillion reacting to the COVID-19 pandemic. That money has to come from somewhere, and maybe China will forgive any debt we have with them as compensation. Overlooking the financial results of our decisions will lead to a grievous future for young Americans.
Manchin’s utilization of inflation appeals to the working class. As a Senator from West Virginia, he may still have some fuel left in the tank and want to retake the governor’s mansion.
Democrat Senator Kyrsten Sinema (AZ) is giving him a run for his money as the most fiscally responsible and politically reasonable liberal. But they are smokescreens for the radicals. Both drive left-wing maniacs crazy. They are thrashing, trying to figure out how to rebuff Manchin and Sinema.
Hopefully, he hangs tight. Eventually, Manchin will compromise as he’s whipped to a vote that is anything but conservative. But any reduction in this bill that is related to Manchin should be celebrated. It’s one more minor shove full as we dig our own grave.
