Lake Compliments McEnany On Handling Fake News

Arizona GOP gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake complimented Fox News Host Kayleigh McEnany saying, “You really did show us how to do it, and turn the tables on these hypocrites in the fake news.”

McEnany served as the 33rd White House Press Secretary under then President Donald Trump, and in this role she constantly dealt with a hostile, liberal news media. In her words, her press office was “offense only” and her team’s mindset was, “We’re going to go on offense against a very liberal press.”

McEnany told Lake, “I’ve got to imagine you hear, on the campaign trail, from voters everywhere, ‘Good job, well done!’”

To which Lake replied, “I took a page out of your playbook. You really did show us how to do it, and turn the tables on these hypocrites in the fake news.”

Kari Lake has been a rising star in the MAGA Republican party and one of the fastest rising Trump supporters on the national stage. Her political standing has made some people question whether or not she has her sights set on a Vice Presidential run with Trump in 2024.

When McEnany questioned her on her commitment to Arizona, Lake replied, “I’m going to be here [in Arizona] not just four years, I’m going to be here eight years, and I’m going to be the fake news media’s worst nightmare for eight years. So they better get used to it.”

Lake was a news anchor in Phoenix until two years ago when she stepped down from her position to pursue a political career. This is her first run for major office, and she has gone from trailing her opponent, Katie Hobbs, by as many as seven points to, according to FiveThirtyEight, leading Hobbs by more than a percentage point with the election just weeks away.

This latest interview with McEnany shows why Lake has been accepted by voters due to her public speaking skill and intelligence on the issues, both skills that she honed while working in the entertainment world.

During the interview, Lake gave a window into how she feels about the country and why she is running as a conservative: “My dad was an offensive line coach … a football coach, so always on offense, absolutely. We have nothing to be defensive about because we love this country. We have the common sense ideas to get through some of the problems we’re facing.”
