Many left-wingers have put forth their best efforts to use the shooting at Club Q in Colorado Springs, Colorado Saturday as an opportunity to club their political opponents with a moral cudgel.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) had strong opinions on the matter, blaming the Club Q event, other shootings of minorities, and hateful crimes against Asians on Republicans.
“After Trump elevated anti-immigrant & anti-Latino rhetoric, we had the deadliest anti-Latino shooting in modern history,” she posted online.
“After anti-Asian hate w/COVID, Atlanta.”
“Tree of life. Emanuel AME. Buffalo.”
“And now after an anti-LGBT+ campaign, Colorado Springs.”
“Connect the dots, @GOP.”

AOC was not alone in her reckless rhetoric. Another Democrat representative from New York, Nydia Velazquez, declared, “Every GOP politician spewing anti-LGBTQ rhetoric bears responsibility for the Colorado Springs shooting. Every GOP politician who says that guns aren’t the problem bears responsibility for the Colorado Springs shooting. Enough.”
A Democrat state senator from Michigan said that some politicians have led their whole campaigns on “anti-LGBTQ fearmongering,” “debating bills targeting LGBTQ people,” and “banning LGBTQ books.”
“Another shooting,” she concluded. “Hate kills.”
Certain politicians structured their entire campaigns on anti-LGBTQ fearmongering, dedicate countless hours of their time introducing and debating bills targeting LGBTQ people, others are hellbent on banning LGBTQ books. Another shooting. Hate kills. https://t.co/SfmFs54ogr

The Democrat state senator did not elaborate on what she meant by “banning LGBTQ books,” but it is safe to assume she is referring to movements popping up around the country that have advocated for making explicitly sexual books out of reach for schoolchildren.
An example of recent and successful activism on this matter was seen when the residents of a Michigan town voted to defund a local library after it was found out they carried inappropriate books routinely pitched to children such as Maia Kobabe’s “Gender Queer: A Memoir.”
Kobabe’s book infamously depicts acts of gay sex.
The Federalist pointed out that Politico and The Washington Post highlighted in their coverage of the shooting that the club had an upcoming “all ages” brunch planned for the Sunday after the shooting.
Watch how @washingtonpost does this—we have no idea about the motive for the gay nightclub shooting in Colorado Saturday night. But it adds info about an all-ages drag show scheduled the next day to imply that those who oppose drag shows for kids are to blame for these deaths. pic.twitter.com/8IzDU9VLUb

The outlet charged that “the intention is obvious,” and that members of the media are trying to intimidate Americans into not opposing LGBT policies that have led to consequences such as men playing in women’s sports as well as child mutilation in the name of ‘gender affirmation.’
Others appeared to agree. Political commentator Matt Walsh argued, “Leftists are using a mass shooting to try and blackmail us into accepting the castration and sexualization of children. These people are just beyond evil. I have never felt more motivated to oppose everything they stand for, with every fiber of my being. Despicable scumbags.”

Recent coverage of the tragic Colorado shooting has now revealed that the suspect is himself ‘LGBT’ — the suspect’s attorneys reportedly have alleged that he identifies with no gender at all.
