Mike Johnson Faces Backlash From Grassroots Conservatives In Poll

At AmericaFest, a poll of Republican attendees revealed widespread dissatisfaction with Speaker Mike Johnson’s leadership. Nearly 59% of respondents said Johnson should not remain Speaker, while only 22% expressed approval of his performance.

The results highlight growing frustration among conservatives, who are rallying behind President-elect Donald Trump’s agenda. Securing the border and deporting illegal immigrants was identified as the top priority for Trump’s administration by 63% of respondents, eclipsing other issues like pardoning Jan. 6 participants and cutting the national debt.

Trump’s Cabinet selections were also well-received, with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. earning 35% support for Health and Human Services Secretary. Kash Patel followed closely with 31% support as the nominee for FBI Director.

Charlie Kirk, who hosted the event, shared the findings on X. He noted that 71% of attendees support primary challenges against Republican lawmakers who oppose Trump’s Cabinet nominees, a sentiment reflective of the dissatisfaction surrounding Johnson’s leadership.

The poll also revealed overwhelming support for holding Anthony Fauci accountable, with over 90% of respondents backing his indictment for alleged involvement in Covid-19 research funding.

These results underscore the divide within the GOP, as grassroots conservatives call for stronger alignment with Trump’s vision and new leadership in the House.
