Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL) openly betrayed her Republican voter base during a brazen lecture in front of an international audience, insisting that Americans need to accept amnesty for millions of illegal aliens living “in the shadows” within the United States.
During a panel discussion for the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, the Republican congresswoman begged Americans to “give dignity” to the illegal aliens who have broken the law to enter the U.S. and take jobs from Americans.
In the panel alongside Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV), Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), and others, Salazar claimed that some form of amnesty is necessary for illegal aliens.
“We need to also give dignity to those people who are in the country and those are the people that I represent,” she said. “We’re talking about 13 to 15 million people — who are, most of them, Hispanics, I would say 85 percent who speak my language, look like me, and sound like me — who are contributing to the economy of this country and they live in the shadows.”
“So it’s time to seal the border … let’s see who comes in and who doesn’t and then turn around and give dignity, that doesn’t mean a path to citizenship, that means to include them and make them dignified members of our community,” Salazar added.
In 2022, Salazar joined six other House Republicans in promoting an amnesty plan that would have allowed illegal aliens to receive 10-year work permits to hold jobs in the U.S. and later apply for green cards to permanently reside within the U.S.
Salazar has spent most of her time in Congress advocating for amnesty and more immigration, instead of looking out for her American constituents.

Providing amnesty for the millions of illegal aliens living in the U.S. would hugely inflate the American labor market — and would likely encourage more waves of illegal immigration.
Of course, this would be a good thing for many of Salazar’s largest donors, which include real estate developers planning to build more housing and Wall Street-linked financial firms whose focus is on increasing the number of consumers and available workers within the United States.
According to independent analysis, both amnesty and increased legal immigration are a net loss for Americans’ job security and wages.
A Congressional Budget Office (CBO) analysis from 2013 asserted that the infamous “Gang of Eight” amnesty plan would “slightly” decrease Americans’ wages. According to another CBO analysis from 2020, “immigration has exerted downward pressure on the wages of relatively low-skilled workers who are already in the country, regardless of their birthplace.”
Other research has revealed that the current amount of legal immigration into the U.S. leads to over $530 billion worth of lost wages for Americans.
According to recent peer-reviewed research from economist Christoph Albert, “as immigrants accept lower wages, they are preferably chosen by firms and therefore have higher job finding rates than natives, consistent with evidence found in US data.”
Critics previously called for Salazar and other Republicans to refuse to attend the WEF meeting, calling them out for associating themselves with “globalist tyrants.”
So @SenatorRisch did the right thing by declining to associate with the globalist tyrants at Davos.
Now Darrell Issa, Maria Salazar, and Mike Gallagher need to cancel too. https://t.co/3ydEVV7JiE
