A Nevada-based news site funded by George Soros is stepping up efforts to spread anti-Trump content ahead of the 2024 elections. The Nevadan, part of the Courier Newsroom network, is pushing narratives designed to support Democrat candidates like Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV) while discrediting President Donald Trump.
Courier Newsroom, founded by Democrat strategist Tara McGowan, claims to combat misinformation, but watchdogs have raised concerns. NewsGuard called it a “clandestine political operation” that misleads readers by presenting partisan content as unbiased local news. The Nevadan is part of Courier’s strategy to influence voters in swing states by subtly pushing Democrat-friendly stories.
One of the more questionable claims promoted by The Nevadan is that Trump would reinstate the military draft—a rumor he has publicly denied. Critics argue this tactic is designed to create fear among voters, especially younger audiences, in an attempt to sway them toward Democrats.
The site’s content is pushed aggressively through digital ads on platforms like Facebook, targeting voters in key battlegrounds. Soros has reportedly contributed over $20 million through his Open Society Foundations since 2021 to fund Courier’s operations.
Despite facing criticism for its deceptive practices, Courier remains protected under a Federal Election Commission ruling that classifies it as a legitimate news outlet, allowing it to avoid financial disclosure requirements.
