Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has come under fire from a coalition of leftist groups, just as the Supreme Court prepares to announce major opinions. Despite the gravity of these attacks, mainstream media has largely ignored the fact that billionaire George Soros has funneled millions into these groups. Newsbusters reports that Soros contributed at least $19 million to seven of the involved organizations between 2016 and 2022.
On May 29, a letter signed by twenty-five radical organizations, including Demand Justice and the Reproductive Justice for All Committee, was sent to Senator Dick Durbin. The letter called for an investigation into Justice Alito’s conduct and suggested he recuse himself from cases where his impartiality could be questioned. The letter’s arguments were based on misinterpreted historical events and recent flag controversies at Alito’s residence.
Despite the involvement of Soros-funded groups, Politico reported the story without mentioning the substantial financial backing. Instead, they framed the flags flown at Alito’s house as the “latest ethics black eye,” failing to address the political motivations behind the attack. This selective reporting raises questions about media bias and the lack of transparency in covering politically sensitive issues.
Among the groups leading the charge is Demand Justice, which received $5.8 million from Soros between 2018 and 2021. This organization, along with Take Back the Court Action Fund, another Soros-funded group, advocates for expanding the Supreme Court by four seats. They argue that this expansion is necessary to counteract what they perceive as a right-wing assault on democracy and various civil rights.
The media’s reluctance to highlight Soros’ funding points to a broader issue of bias in political reporting. Conservative critics argue that the significant financial influence behind these attacks on Justice Alito should be more thoroughly examined. As the Supreme Court continues to navigate contentious cases, the motivations and funding behind such political maneuvers deserve greater scrutiny.
