Polling data released by the Teamsters union reveals that President Donald Trump is far ahead of Kamala Harris in terms of member support for the 2024 presidential race. The internal polling suggests that Trump’s message is resonating strongly with union workers.
The Teamsters Electronic Member Poll, conducted between July 24 and September 15, found that Trump secured 59.6% of the vote, while Harris managed only 34%. The option for other candidates garnered 6.4% of the vote. The Teamsters Research Phone Poll, conducted from September 9 to 15, reinforced this trend. Trump received 58% support, Harris 31%, while 6% of respondents were undecided, and 5% said they “don’t know.”
These results are significant given the Teamsters’ historical support for Democratic candidates. Union President Sean M. O’Brien shared the poll results, reiterating that the Teamsters are committed to allowing their members to guide the endorsement process. “For the past year, the Teamsters Union has pledged to conduct the most inclusive, democratic, and transparent Presidential endorsement process,” O’Brien noted in a post on X.
While the union has not yet endorsed a candidate for the 2024 election, the General Executive Board is expected to announce a decision shortly. With Trump holding a commanding lead among union members, this endorsement could have a major impact on the election.
As the campaign progresses, the Teamsters’ eventual endorsement will be watched closely. These polls suggest that Trump’s message is resonating in unexpected corners of the labor movement.
