Tim Walz Backs David Hogg For DNC Vice Chair To Push Progressive Agenda

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) is endorsing activist David Hogg for vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, signaling a push for progressive leadership after the party’s defeat in the 2024 election. Walz believes Hogg’s activism and passion can help reshape the Democratic Party.

“David Hogg represents exactly the kind of bold, dynamic and courageous leadership the Democratic Party needs right now,” Walz stated. He emphasized that Hogg’s ability to engage with voters and drive progressive policies makes him the right choice for the position.

During his unsuccessful presidential campaign, Walz campaigned with Hogg and witnessed his influence firsthand. Walz expressed confidence in Hogg’s leadership, saying, “This is exactly what we need right now, experienced, thoughtful and energized leadership that meets people where they are and takes bold action to win.”

Hogg became a prominent figure in politics after surviving the Parkland school shooting and co-founding March for Our Lives. His outspoken advocacy for gun control has garnered widespread attention and support from progressives across the country.

In response to Walz’s endorsement, Hogg expressed his gratitude. “Ever since the shooting at my high school, he’s been a champion for the gun violence prevention movement,” Hogg said. He also described Walz as “a good, decent man” and praised his dedication to public service.

Walz’s endorsement of Hogg comes on the heels of his support for Minnesota Democratic Party Chair Ken Martin’s bid for DNC chair, demonstrating Walz’s active role in shaping the party’s future.

Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL) has also endorsed Hogg, showing growing support among younger Democrats for leadership focused on activism and progressive reforms.

With the Democratic Party seeking a new direction after recent setbacks, Walz’s support for Hogg highlights the party’s shift toward bold, youth-driven leadership.
