New intelligence findings reveal that China played a significant role in shaping recent Canadian elections — with financial backing for candidates and strategic interference. Despite these discoveries, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government has worked to keep the full scope of the operation hidden from public scrutiny.
Security agencies have determined that Chinese operatives funneled money through intermediaries to influence at least 11 candidates in the last two federal elections. While both major parties were targeted — most of the funding benefited Trudeau’s Liberals. However, the names of those involved remain undisclosed — even as Canada prepares for another election.
