President Donald Trump has taken executive action to combat religious discrimination in federal agencies, forming a task force led by Attorney General Pam Bondi. The announcement, made at the National Prayer Breakfast, underscores Trump’s commitment to protecting Christian Americans from unfair treatment by government institutions.
The task force has been directed to investigate policies within the Department of Justice, the FBI, and the IRS that have disproportionately targeted Christians. Trump called out these agencies for their role in suppressing religious Americans under previous administrations and vowed to put an end to such practices.
During his remarks, Trump stressed that his administration would protect Christians in schools, workplaces, hospitals, and the military. He pointed to incidents where the government cracked down on religious Americans, including pandemic-era restrictions that forced churches to close while other establishments remained open.
The executive order also establishes a commission on religious liberty to develop further protections for faith-based organizations. Additionally, Trump announced the launch of a White House Faith Office, which will provide direct support for religious leaders and organizations.
The initiative has been widely praised by conservatives. First Liberty Institute’s Kelly Shackelford called it a necessary step, stating, “All Americans should be free to exercise their faith without government intrusion.” The move has been welcomed by those who have long argued that Christian values have been under attack by federal agencies.
With these actions, Trump has made clear that religious liberty will remain a top priority as his administration works to ensure that Christians can practice their faith freely without fear of government persecution.
