Former President Donald Trump recently traveled to the Lone Star State, where he received an endorsement from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R).
Abbott endorsed the former president, highlighting that Trump’s policies kept the notorious cartels at bay and the southern border secure, unlike President Joe Biden.
Trump appeared alongside Abbott at an airport hangar in Edinburg, Texas.
The former president, who is running for president and trouncing all GOP presidential contenders in primary polls, promised the Texas governor that if he’s elected in 2024, he will make his “job much easier,” as reported by the Associated Press (AP).
The southern border was widely secure under the Trump administration, unlike now. As of today, over 10 million illegal immigrants have walked right across the wide-open border because of Biden’s lax, ineffective policies. Of those in the U.S. illegally, over 100 are on the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) terror watchlists.
Since the border is in disarray, with Texas being one of the most highly affected states across the country, Abbott has had to take action to protect his residents from those crossing into America illegally.
“You’ll be able to focus on other things in Texas,” Trump told Abbott.
Abbott then stressed the need for the U.S. to have a president willing to secure the southern border.
“We need a president who’s going to secure the border,” the Texas governor said. “We need Donald J. Trump back as our president of the United States of America.”
Moments before receiving Abbot’s endorsement, Trump served meals to soldiers of the Texas National Guard, who will soon be forcibly stationed at the southern border instead of spending Thanksgiving with their families.
“What you do is incredible, and you want it to be done right,” Trump told the soldiers.

Abbott reiterated the fact that because of the Biden administration, the soldiers will have to skip Thanksgiving and tackle the plague of illegal immigration that the president refuses to address.
“They should not be here at this time. They should be home,” the Texas governor said, adding that “the only reason why they are here is because we have a president of the United States of America who is not securing our border.”
