Trump Vows To ‘Obliterate The Deep State,’ Create ‘Truth And Reconciliation Commission’

During a speech at a political conference over the weekend, former President Donald Trump vowed to put an end to corruption in Washington, D.C. — specifically calling out the “Deep State” and advocating for the creation of a “Truth and Reconciliation Commission” to declassify all information about the government’s spying, censorship efforts, and corruption.

Trump made the remarks during a speech at the Turning Point Action Conference in West Palm Beach, Florida, where a straw poll found that 87.5% of attendees supported the former president as their top choice in the 2024 Republican presidential primary.

“When I get back into the Oval Office, I will totally obliterate the Deep State,” Trump promised the crowd.

“We will create a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to declassify and publish all documents on deep state spying, censorship, and all of the corruption that’s gone on in America,” he added.

The idea of a “Truth and Reconciliation Commission” is not new, as they have been used by many different governments — including in South Africa, Canada, Australia, and Germany — to uncover past wrongdoings committed by the government and to resolve conflict. Congressional Republicans in the U.S. have also made similar pledges to create a “Church-style” committee to investigate major issues with the Justice System, referencing the Church Committee that famously investigated and uncovered serious abuses committed by the CIA in the 1970s.

Trump went on to point out that his first term in the White House has given him a better understanding of who he should pick to work in his next administration.

“Now, better than maybe anyone else, I know the great ones. I know the smart ones. I know the dumb ones. I know the weak ones. I know the stupid ones,” he stated. “I know everybody in Washington. I got a Ph.D. in learning about the people of Washington.”

Concluding his speech, Trump made a promise that he would rid the government of all bad actors.

“We will demolish the deep state; we will expel the warmongers. From our government we will drive out the globalists, we will cast out the communists, Marxists, and fascists. We will throw off the sick political class that hates our country, and we will route the fake news media. We will defeat crooked Joe Biden and we will drain the swamp once and for all,” he said.

This speech comes after Trump released a ten-point plan in March to demolish the Deep State, including promises to take on internal issues that caused problems during his first term.
