Trump Warns Russia Of Heavy Sanctions If It Refuses To End Ukraine War

President Donald Trump has put Russia on notice, stating that unless it moves toward a peace deal with Ukraine, his administration is prepared to implement harsh financial penalties. His latest warning marks a shift in U.S. policy as he prioritizes economic pressure over military intervention.

Trump took to Truth Social on Friday to announce his intent. “Based on the fact that Russia is absolutely ‘pounding’ Ukraine on the battlefield right now, I am strongly considering large scale Banking Sanctions, Sanctions, and Tariffs on Russia until a Cease Fire and FINAL SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT ON PEACE IS REACHED,” he wrote.

His statement comes after a heated meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. Sources report that Zelensky was dismissed from the meeting after pressing for continued U.S. assistance, a sign that Trump is pushing Ukraine toward negotiations rather than prolonged military engagement.

In addition to economic threats, Trump’s administration is sending key officials to Saudi Arabia next week for cease-fire discussions with Ukrainian representatives. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed that plans for peace talks are already underway.

Trump’s approach could deal a serious financial blow to Russia. If the proposed sanctions mirror those used against Iran, they could block foreign businesses from dealing with Moscow and further isolate its economy.

With tensions mounting, Trump’s message is clear — peace talks must happen now, or Russia will face devastating financial consequences.
