Ukrainian Military Takes Back Kyiv

The Ukrainian military has seized control of Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv.

The Ukrainian Defense Minister, Hanna Maliar, stated in a Facebook post that Bucha, Irpin, Gostomel, and Kyiv have been taken back from the Russians.

According to the Daily Mail, Irpin and Bucha were recovered by the Ukrainian military earlier this week. Unfortunately, a large number of people in both towns were killed and their houses, businesses and offices destroyed.

Bucha’s mayor claimed that 280 dead bodies are buried in a vast grave in Bucha, with dead bodies everywhere in streets of the city. And approximately 200 people have died nearby in Irpin.

In Gostomel, fierce fighting erupted as Russian and Ukrainian soldiers battled for the area’s airstrip.

According to Ukrainian officials, Russia’s present withdrawal from northern Ukraine is tactical, as the Russian army is shifting its focus to the country’s eastern and southern regions.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has also reportedly contacted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to praise Ukraine’s courageous military forces for effectively repelling the Russian military.

Ukraine has gained control of Kyiv. However, the capital’s road network is severely damaged. According to the Daily Mail, Ukrainian soldiers are being confronted with empty Russian tanks and military transport vehicles that litter the roads of Kyiv.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said that Russia left only after creating disaster and pain.
