Watchdog Group Files Complaint Against Biden-Harris Admin Over Medicare Email

A complaint has been filed by a government watchdog, alleging the Biden-Harris administration misused taxpayer resources to promote Vice President Kamala Harris to Medicare recipients. The Foundation for Accountability & Civic Trust (FACT) submitted the complaint to the Office of Special Counsel, demanding an investigation into what it claims is a violation of the Hatch Act.

The controversy centers on an email blast sent in September by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to millions enrolled in Medicare. The message praised Harris’ role in healthcare reforms, highlighting her vote on legislation credited with lowering healthcare costs for seniors. The email, signed by President Joe Biden, discussed the administration’s commitment to Medicare reforms and included campaign-style statements about healthcare as a right for all Americans.

Kendra Arnold, FACT’s executive director, argued in the complaint that Secretary Xavier Becerra and other federal employees potentially violated the Hatch Act. “The email was entirely political in both its purpose and language,” Arnold said. She added that using official Medicare contact lists paid for by taxpayer dollars was particularly concerning.

Several recipients complained to The Daily Wire, describing the email as political advertising disguised as government communication. One recipient noted that the email appeared to promote Harris’ achievements, especially with mention of her tie-breaking vote.

FACT’s complaint also emphasized that the use of public resources to send this message was “egregious and outrageous.” Arnold urged swift action from the Office of Special Counsel to uphold the integrity of the Hatch Act and prevent further misuse of taxpayer funds for political purposes.

The Office of Special Counsel has yet to respond publicly to the complaint. FACT, a nonprofit based in Washington, D.C., advocates for ethics and transparency in government and is now calling for an investigation to clarify if HHS officials crossed the legal line.
