Woman Assaults Chipotle Employee Over Burrito Bowl Order

A violent incident occurred at a Chipotle restaurant in Washington, D.C., on Saturday after a woman became upset over missing ingredients in her UberEats order. The altercation, which was captured in a viral video with over 7 million views, shows the woman throwing a burrito bowl in the face of employee Roberto Hernandez after a heated exchange over the missing meat and condiments in her meal.

According to Hernandez, the woman entered the store and demanded a refund for her incomplete order. She claimed her chicken burrito bowl had arrived without the meat and condiments she requested. However, she was told that any refund had to come from UberEats, which sparked her decision to take matters into her own hands. The woman went behind the counter and helped herself to two replacement burrito bowls.

Hernandez attempted to stop her by grabbing one of the bowls. In response, the woman slammed the bowl into his face. Hernandez, visibly shaken by the assault, chose not to retaliate, instead walking away from the situation to avoid escalating it. He later revealed that the woman had allegedly made threats online to return and harm the staff at the store.

The woman later spoke to WUSA-TV, admitting that her actions were wrong but still justifying her behavior. She explained that she felt she had the right to retrieve her food once it had been taken by the store staff. She also mentioned that “men” at the restaurant had allegedly assaulted her in the past, which added to her frustration.

Chipotle has confirmed it is filing a police report regarding the incident. Hernandez, who reported feeling traumatized by the assault, is seeking additional security measures at the store. The woman, who has also threatened legal action against Chipotle, faces significant backlash for her violent outburst.
