Democrats Angry After RFK Jr. Announced His Running Mate

Democrats were fuming after independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced that Nicole Shanahan would be his running mate on Tuesday.

Kennedy’s campaign was not being taken as seriously by Democrats until they found out who his running mate was. Shanahan, 38, is a lawyer, philanthropist and worst of all for Democrats, a leftist. She has a history of donating to past Democrat campaigns and donated $4 million to Kennedy for Super Bowl advertisements.

This news spells trouble for Democrats.

With many Democrats disapproving of President Joe Biden, Kennedy’s move to choose a leftist as his vice-presidential pick will mix up the 2024 election, making Democrat lawmakers upset. In a desperate attempt, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) held a call with Democrat officials in swing states warning of Kennedy’s effect on Biden’s reelection.

“I am personally offended and just disgusted by [Kennedy’s] campaign,” Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) said in the call. “He should be ashamed of himself. He should stop running for president.”

Other Democrats tossed around conspiracies that Kennedy was chosen to run by MAGA supporters.

“He’s a spoiler,” Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. Austin Davis (D) said on the call. “He was drafted into this race by Donald Trump’s top supporters.”

“He has no realistic path to victory in Pennsylvania,” he added.

A website was put up run by Biden supporters to give the “facts” on Kennedy.

“RFK Jr. is a MAGA-backed candidate who is bankrolled by billionaires to help reelect Donald Trump,” the main page of the website claims. “RFK Jr.’s platform is extremely dangerous: he pushes conspiracy theories that divide our country, has made millions of dollars opposing vaccines, and has a history of anti-Black, anti-LGBTQ, and anti-Semitic remarks.”

The website also attempts to paint Kennedy as a far-right Christian nationalist.

According to The Hill, Kennedy has gained traction and has enough signatures to appear in several states, including New Hampshire, Hawaii, Michigan, Georgia, South Carolina and Arizona.

Now that Shanahan has joined Team Kennedy, many of his critics know that she can help with his campaign’s finances, allowing him to gain enough votes in swing states to influence the election.

“Him being in the race means there is a greater likelihood that Donald Trump will be president again,” said Sen. Mallory McMorrow (D-MI), adding that Kennedy’s campaign is “horrifying.”
