The Democratic National Committee (DNC) used campaign funds to pay for President Joe Biden’s legal fees in the classified documents case after Democrats attacked former President Donald Trump for using the legal funding mechanism to pay his legal bills, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) records reported by the New York Post on Friday.
The DNC used the sum to pay for attorney’s fees and law firms representing the Democrat president during special counsel Robert Hur’s 13-month investigation, which concluded in February. Hur ended his investigation with a report concluding that a jury would not be inclined to pass a guilty verdict because Biden exhibits signs of age-related senility.

Throughout the investigation, the DNC paid $1.05 million to Bob Bauer PLLC, a professional limited liability company owned by top Biden lawyer Bob Bauer, who is married to Anita Dunn, a senior White House communications officer.
In addition to paying Dunn, the DNC used the money to bring attorney David Laufman on board the team. Laufman is a former Justice Department lawyer who worked on the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server when she was secretary of state and the probe into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Moreover, the DNC paid over $100,000 to Boston law firm Hemenway & Barnes, where Biden attorney Jennifer Miller works. The records do not show how much of that money went to Miller’s work on the Biden documents investigation.
“We are not spending money on legal bills. We are not hawking gold sneakers or any of that stuff. The money that we are raising, we are going straight to talking to voters,” Biden campaign finance chair Rufus Gifford told MSNBC last week.
The DNC says its expenses are a different story from the RNC. “There is no comparison,” DNC spokesman Alex Floyd said. “The DNC does not spend a single penny of grassroots donors’ money on legal bills, unlike Donald Trump, who actively solicits legal fees from his supporters and has drawn down every bank account he can get his hands on like a personal piggy bank.”
