NC State Broadcaster Suspended For Referencing ‘Illegal Aliens’

Longtime North Carolina State radio play-by-play announcer Gary Hahn is indefinitely suspended after referencing “illegal aliens” while reporting the score of the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl game in El Paso.

His comment came during the Wolfpack’s 16-12 loss to Maryland in Charlotte, North Carolina.

El Paso, of course, is under a historic deluge of illegal migrants lured into the country by President Joe Biden’s lax border policies and virtually zero enforcement of federal law.

The city is bursting at the seams with tens of thousands of migrants crossing the southern border into the area. Only last week, the Sun Bowl canceled its Fan Fiesta scheduled for the city’s convention center.

The facility was being utilized to house the flood of newcomers.

While broadcasting the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, Hahn treated fans to a score update from the Tony The Tiger Sun Bowl. He stated, “Down among all the illegal aliens in El Paso, it’s UCLA 14 and Pittsburgh 6.”

This was enough to spur the wrath of Learfield Communications, the broadcast rights holder for NC State. The El Paso Times reported the company yanked Hahn from the air indefinitely “following comments made during today’s Duke’s Mayo Bowl radio broadcast.”

NC State’s associate athletics director for communications, Annabelle Myers, also confirmed the suspension. Hahn has been the play-by-play voice of NC State football and men’s basketball since 1991. He was twice named the North Carolina Sportscaster of the Year, in 2011 and 2020.

El Paso is at the epicenter of the White House’s failures to deal with the unprecedented border surge. Local leaders, even those who back the president, are sending out desperate calls for action.

City representative Isabel Salcido, who deemed herself a proud voter of President Biden, declared that the besieged area is in dire need of leadership from the White House and Congress. She urged the president to visit before or after the North American Leaders Summit on Jan. 9 and 10.

The conference is being held in Mexico City.

Salcido said that the visit “will allow you to witness firsthand the failure of this Congress.”

Hahn’s remark was seen by many as ill-advised, at least for its timing. But the cancel crowd is missing the bigger picture, and that is of an American city being drowned by literally hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants as Washington sits on its hands and does nothing.
