Since Republicans have taken control of the House of Representatives, they have prioritized passing pro-life laws. Yet over 200 Democrats have voted against condemning attacks on pro-life centers.
House Resolution 1233 expressed “the sense of the House of Representatives condemning the recent attacks on pro-life facilities, groups, and churches”. The resolution passed the house by a vote margin of 222-208, with every republican voting for the resolution.
House Republicans just passed a resolution condemning the nationwide wave of violence, property damage, threats, trespassing, and intimidation against pro-life organizations.

Of 212 Democrats in the House, 3 of them joined Republicans in support of the resolution. Freedom Press reports that Reps. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX), Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), and Marie Glusenkamp (D-WA) all voted in support of it.
Accordingly, a pro-life organization called Catholic Vote stated that 78 pro-life groups and 108 churches have been attacked by pro-abortion activists since May 2022. Among the attacks are fire bombings and vandalism. They said the activists threatened them. “If abortions aren’t safe, neither are you,” the activists said.
The Department of Justice has not arrested any of the activists engaged in these attacks.
Moreover, radical Democrats such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) have not issued any condemnation in regard to these attacks. House Democrats urged their caucus to vote “no” on the resolution condemning the attacks. The caucus argued that the resolution does not address attacks against pro-abortion centers.
Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (D-MA) stated, “Assaults on abortion clinics increased 128% last year over 2020.” According to her, the statistic came from the National Abortion Federation.
In accordance, Planned Parenthood agreed with Rep. Clark. They claimed that the resolution “ignores threats of violence against abortion providers and patients.”
Freedom Press argued that Democrats are using the fact that attacks against pro-abortion institutions were not included in the resolution. Therefore, Democrats voted against it.
The Daily Signal articulated that the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division has “refused to disclose whether it will be prosecuting any of the attacks on pro-life centers under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances.”
Additionally, the FACE act precisely prohibits threats against reproductive healthcare facilities, as well as any threats intentionally damaging the property of a religious institution.
Clearly, the act prohibits any attacks on pro-life or pro-abortion centers. However, the DOJ’S division charged 26 pro-life protesters in 2022 with violations of the FACE act, yet they did not charge any of the pro-choice activists who damaged pro-life centers.
The resolution passed by the House GOP condemned all attacks against pro-life centers.
